clearly that cat was just chillaxin' and the box turtle (probably because it's lacking the proper dignity of being called a tortise) just had to ruin the cat's day. the cat's not "stupid" he just doesn't care. would you really care if a turtle was chasing you about the yard on a lazy day? probably not either. and though i don't condone throwing a turtle against a wall. i would aid my mammilian brethern before i aided a turtle. call me biased. it's just as easy to pick a shelled reptile up and move him into your neighbor's yard.

many turtle species have no natural predators after they develop their near-impenetrable adult shells, making them ballsy, long-lived little critters. the cat was in all likelihood relaxing in the yard nearby a egg-laying spot (baby turtles, unlike their parents, ARE vulnerable to being eaten) and being harassed as a result.

To all of you "turtle on a string" fans, I say not. A quick informal vestor analysis dumps that hypothesis. The reptile changes direction to often and too quickly. I'm not taking a position on the turtle/tortise controversy. It's sort of got the high domed shell of a tortise and it's certainly comfortable on dry land. On the other hand, the only hard-shelled reptile I've seen exhibit that sort of agression is a snapper. It could be a juvenile snapper. The shell bumps look like they are starting and the head is sort of right. (You never get a real good look.) An adult snapper would make quick work of a cat. Snappers make one other thing as well - delicious soup!
