that is scary if u really think aboutit
Posted by: mjollnir41 8 April 22:24
Scary? Have you ever seen a Khyber Pass knock off copy? The only thing that scares is the damage it will do when it blows up. Way back in the day, it was easy to build a gun for a low pressure round. Nowadays, with modern high pressure cartridges, if the steel isnt heat treated and handled correctly, all you end up with is a finely crafted hand grenade. They work fine for the tribesmen but arent considered to be a real threat to world stability.

he's right about one thing, we wont beat them with conventional forces. But a few well placed *Boomers* will throw them back into the Stone Age ... Defeat Jihad!! your grandchildren will thank you for it.
Posted by: Jakob 10 April 15:32
Back to the Stone Age? What makes you think they've left it? And PolyMan, this guy is a good journalist. If a bad journalist did this he wouldn't stop talkign about the danger everywehere and being put into harms way. This guy just got his balls up and went out and did it. I hope he doesn't change a thing on his "nect" (sic) progect.

There is no such thing as an illegal gun. Guns are just tools -and everyone has the right to self defense. Now some guns are better made or better designed than others -but even poor people have the right to get whatever they can afford. Go Freedom. Go Free Market. Go Pakistani gun makers!

This pseudo reporter has little to no knowledge of firearms and their place in various societies. His little drama was entertaining, but that's about it.

very cool video. Wonder how many of those guns end up across the border in afghanistan. www.kifgonline.com

People think THIS is scary? Perhaps it should be pointed out that guns are LEGAL somewhere I dare not mention *points West*
Posted by: Mark W 10 April 23:31
He has his finger on the trigger in every gun shot. He's never even taken basic gun safety. How can anyone assume this man knows anything about guns whatsoever. Yes, you DO need basic knowledge at least to honestly report on any subject. Let alone try and appear like an expert...
Posted by: Starscream 11 April 01:56
He didn't try to come off as an expert on guns, and he did a pretty good job of showing an 'average Joe's' reaction to a market like this one. Various knowledgeable reviewers in years past have examined products from the Khyber markets, and their comments on the guns were along the lines of 1) they're functional, 2) they won't win any beauty contests, 3) none of these gun makers are going to get an ISO9001 certification, but their products work just fine for their customers, and that's what really counts. He did show some of his ignorance, in that he thinks the tribes are who the West is fighting against in A-Stan & Pakland - it's the Taliban and their radical Islamic Fundamentalist regime.

these folks would not be allowed to carry on like that in Aussie.. damn disgraceful.. have they no shame.. guns are evil.. therefore only evil people have them..QED..
Posted by: Pokey 11 April 09:27
adi2213, if all guns are evil, my guns must be defective -- they haven't shot anyone. Also, are the guns that are carried by your military and police officers evil also? Guns are simply objects or tools, if you will, that can be used for many purposes, including good or evil. Most guns are simply kept for the purpose of collecting, target shooting, or self defense. Get off your moral high horse before reality knocks you off of it.
Posted by: laylow 11 April 12:45
Does anyone else here see the logical disconnect of calling a wood and metal contraption evil? It's wood and metal, people. It is neither good nor evil. It all depends on the _human_ who is using it. Inanimate objects cannot be good or evil.
Posted by: El Tejon 11 April 17:53
How wonderful! Free men making the tools they need to resist tyrants. Truly inspirational! While the reporter was clearly a novice to firearms (by his terminology, weapons handling and shooting style), he had the guts and resources to go there. adi2213, if guns are so evil, why would any government have them? My guns are not evil, they are my liberty teeth! Molon labe and all that.

The oppressed minorities in the US could learn a few things from these people!
Posted by: wOOfa 12 April 00:42
Coming from an arms dealer in the US, *Shrugs* Personally I own many weapons of various styles & types & theres nothing wrong with that fact either because its my choice its my right (though it seems that they really dont have a choice & that sucks) but Keep in mind this, "Guns Dont Kill People, People Do". So in reality, all of this & what it means is actually about two things called control, or a lack there of.... even though the area has seen well over a hundred known historical wars over the past 3500 years, what they appear to be doing to there children is just wrong.. Open your eyes people.. Those children are the worlds future. So teach them right and there wont be a need for the guns anyway. Heh, They are so proud to have a "founding father" of heroin in the community, Proud of a drug thats so physically captivating that once you start, you better not stop because it just might kill you (or you will wish that it did kill you due to the type of withdrawls you get to go through). Again this brings me back to my point,, Having control or a lack there of!! just my opinion
Posted by: wOOfa 12 April 00:48
OMFG i just watched it again and noticed that when the shotguns being fired off.. notice theres a child standing next to him catching shotgun shells as they fly out of chamber. wtf???
Posted by: Billybob Bojangles 14 April 17:33
The "reporter’s" firearm knowledge and historical knowledge of the area was at best “novice” and most likely just simple “Hollywood ignorant”. He focused on increasing the drama of his “story” but that is what easily sells. He was fortunate to have relatives to assist with his efforts but he took the easy path of ignorant documentary work. The video depicted a spoiled child who received a video camera, “camera crew” that was most likely a cousin, and a vacation to the homeland as a birthday gift from mommy. Imagine what story he could have produced had he had only taken the time to educate himself with some simple basics about the subject matter.
Posted by: FKpakis 16 April 01:26
F*k pakis (i.e. punjibies) go back to India, and stop occuping Afghan lands.
Posted by: David Hardy 22 April 23:52
I gather that people in the area really like guns, but have never heard of safety rules. I suppose they have no workplace safety regulations either, so I shouldn't be too surprised. If those were real Artillery Lugers in the shop, and not local copies, and real 19th century muskets, someone ought to make a buying trip up there. The latter would sell for close to a thousand, the former for several thousand, apiece.
Posted by: ravenshrike 23 April 17:38
Gun control is keeping your grouping patterns under a 1/2" Now, if you mean gun restrictions and eradication, that's a different matter.
Posted by: Poshboy 23 April 23:27
This chap really didn't know anything about firearms. Not even the basics. When he was firing the Kalashnikov off the roof, he didn't even know enough to put the rifle stock into his shoulder to help properly aim and fire it. An entertaining video, though. That big old WW1 Lewis Gun was nice to see...
Posted by: Jonas Salk 24 April 00:55
It's a shame the guy doing this video is such an idiot and knows absolutely nothing about guns. Still, a wonderful video.

To answer someones question: The children collect all the spent rounds from the 'firing range' and sell them back to the tribesmen to make more rounds..
